Introduction

"Doing Business in China" is a program developed by Lingnan (University) College, Sun Yat-sen University, aiming to provide participants direct access to the challenging business environment in China---one of the world’s biggest economies. Varying from 3-10 days, the program is designed for MBA/EMBA students from overseas business schools and can be customized to satisfy the needs of different groups. It combines a series of lectures in understanding China, its different region’s economic situation, Chinese marketing strategies, Chinese culture and its impact on management, foreign direct investment, business law and practices in China, and other issues facing China in the trend of Globalization. Through company visits and interaction with their management team, participants will gain first-hand knowledge of the business practices of local and international corporations, and therefore form their own conceptions of Doing Business in China. In the last few years, Lingnan (University) College has organized various programs for Lancaster University Management School (UK), Waikato Management School (New Zealand), MIB School of Management (Italy), Rotterdam School of Management (the Netherlands), WU Executive Academy at Vienna University of Economics and Business (Austria), Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota (USA) and other business schools.  

Location

We are located in Guangzhou (also known as Canton), the capital city of Guangdong Province, the richest province in the country.
  • Close to Hong Kong (around 1.5 hours by train) and Macau (around 2 hours by bus)
  • Host of China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair): China's largest trade fair of the highest level, of the most complete varieties and of the largest attendance and business turnover

Lectures

Lingnan (University) College enlists a dynamic faculty team dedicated to sharing with participants their extensive experiences in academics and industry. The integrated English-taught lectures give exposure to the development of China and build awareness of China’s situation in different dimensions: economics, marketing, management, culture, business law and other topics. Company Visits

The program includes industrial visits to the local and International companies in the region. Participants have the chances to meet and discuss face-to-face with the corporation’s management team for experience sharing and networking. They will be exposed to the real business practices in local Chinese companies or multi-national companies and be able to develop their cross-cultural awareness and management techniques.

Cultural and Leisure Activities
