Master's Programmes

Lingnan offers five Master’s programmes, two of which are academic degrees, including a Master of Economics degree and a Master of Management Science degree. The other three are specialised degrees: the Master of Finance degree, Master of International Business degree and Master of Insurance degree.

Master of Economics 

The Master of Economics programme aims to develop students’ capability and integrity. Graduating students are equipped with solid theoretical and professional knowledge, and having gone through strict academic training, they will: comprehend major analytical methods and tools of modern economics; exhibit independent and critical thinking; observe and analyse major issues of domestic and global economic theories and practices; be able to conduct research and teaching; and adapt to the demands of local and national economic construction and social development. Graduates are most active in commercial banks, enterprises, security and insurance companies.

Master of Management Science

The Master of Management Science programme aims to develop students who are able to work with large amounts of business data, and statistical tools and optimisation methods, and integrate these with the theories of corporate operation and supply chain management to make scientific decisions. Through systematic studies, students will obtain a solid theoretical base of knowledge and professional knowledge of management, and have excellent computer and English skills. Graduates will thus be fully qualified to work in corporate management and consulting positions. In 2018, the majority of graduates received offers from IT and communication companies with attractive compensation.

Master of Finance

The Master of Finance programme aims to develop high-level financial and financial management talents, giving them sound knowledge of financial theories, and excellent ability in knowledge-utilisation and scientific decision-making. Graduating students have strong fundamental knowledge of economics and mathematics, and sound abilities in the use of financial modelling and quantitative analysis tools to solve real-world problems. Thus, they cater to the demands of financial management positions in corporations and financial institutes, as well as similar positions in non-financial corporations.

Master of Insurance

The Master of Insurance programme aims to equip students with solid theoretical and prof♋essional knowledge of insurance, know-how and techniques to work in the industry, excelleܫnt language skills, and abilities in computer and information technologies to solve financial and insurance (including social insurance) problems in the industry,. Graduating students can cater to the demands of high-level positions in insurance companies, insurance agencies, banks, security, funds, trusts, fortune management institutes, economic management departments of governments, insurance and financial planning organisations, risk management groups, and social security organisations.

Master of International Business

The Master of International Business programme aims to develop talents who can adapt to the complex international economic, political, and cultural environment, and meet the demands of the country’s development. Students develop a profound understanding of modern business, comprehensive knowledge of the systems of international business, strong abilities in international business practices, sophisticated communication skills in English, and high-level international business analysis and decision-making skills. Graduating students are qualified to work in foreign-related enterprises, government departments, and social organisations dealing with international business operations and management.
