Course Recap: CHEMBA21 — International Business Environment
Course Description
Globalization and the technological developments of t🍃he digital age have created exciting new opportunities for managers who seek growth and profits by accessing resources and serving markets worldwide. At the same time, managing across cultures and nations in a world where firms face liability of foreigness, poses its own challenges.
This course will𝓡 address the strategic, organizational, and cultural challenges involved in managing activities across𓃲 borders, in an increasingly interconnected, and, at the same time, divided, world. Our course is taking place during the ongoing unprecedented (peace-time) world-wide threat. The pandemic has created a host of paradoxes. Countries have closed their borders and yet, have never depended so much on each other to deal with the common threat. We are acutely aware that one country's failure is every country's failure when one single item is on top of everyone's agenda. Even though these are challenging times for all of us, they also provide an extremely rich context within which we can discuss each of the topics on our syllabus.

When I started learning with the course materials of International Business Environment (IBE), my first impression is “How about the difference in between IBE and Global Economics?”, I think it must be a very insightful and impressive course that will bring me to another high level of international business scope and perspective on the overall global environment. And for sure, that has been pr🎐oved during the course with Professor Svjetlana Madzar’s instruction and guidance, and in-class case study.
As a Program management and Business development leader in my current company, I will have to know the global and international business environment to work out our practical/competitive and effective business strategy to support & service our customer and meanwhile to compete with our competitors to ensure our marketplace in our industry. This course, Globalization and the technological developments of the digital age have created exciting new opportunities for managers (like me) who seek growth and profits by accessing resources and serving markets worldwide.

This course also addressed the strategic, organizational, and cultural challenges involved in managing activities across borders, in an increasingly interconnected,𒐪 and, meanwhile, divided the world. Through lively and interesting in-class case analysis and role play and debates, Prof. Svjetlana brought the objective of the course in breadth and depth, which has provided me supportive suggestions that guide me in how to handle the practical issues and provided me wise choice to solve problems in my work.
